Birth Doulas in Edmonton and Surrounding Areas

Our certified birth doulas are available to support you on your birth journey in Edmonton and surrounding areas, in person or virtually. Our in-person doula services support all hospital births with physicians, as well as birth centre and planned home births with midwives. They are available in French when availability permits.

Our doula services include:

• Complimentary Consultation: We meet to see if our services are right for you. This visit can take place at any time during your pregnancy.

• Two more meetings: Once you hire us, we will meet with you twice: 
   

  • First Meeting: We will discuss your philosophy and expectations regarding labour and birth, and our general role. We will prepare your birth preferences, which include individual philosophies you have regarding pain relief, relaxation, breathing and visualization techniques, and positions for labour. At this time, the contract will be signed.
     

  • Second Meeting: We meet approximately 4 weeks prior to your due date in the comfort of your home. We will review what will happen during your birth experience and our role within it. We will discuss natural comfort measures, the differences between pre-labour and labour, optimizing foetal positioning, when to time contractions, and when to contact us. Birth partners are shown how they can be as involved as they wish so that the birth experience is positive for both of you.
     

• Continuous Support During Your Labour and Birth: We offer a quiet and calm presence and reassurance for you and your birthing team. We offer comfort measures such as an extra practical hand and professional information at all times, which is helpful in hospital settings where there are multiple patients for staff to attend to.
   

• Postpartum Support: We are available to review your birthing experience and to assist you further with breastfeeding and any other questions you may have.
   

• Photographs And/Or a Timeline of Your Birth: We provide you with a brief account of your labour and birth.
   

• 24-hour On-call Support Throughout Your Pre-natal and Postpartum Experience: We are available for questions any time of day.
